Shared Water – Shared Opportunities: Integrated Water Management in International Rivers

Water research and science play an important role in advancing the principles of IWRM and the implementation of the process. To promote IWRM in international river basins, this requires a solid theoretical and practical understanding of the IWRM concept, associated principles and continuous research in different international, regional, national and local contexts.

The project has following objectives:

  • To provide guiding framework for preparing national and regional water policies in international river basins in line with IWRM principles and best practices.
  • To provide guiding framework for effective institutional arrangement for share water management of international river basins.
  • To find out the shared benefits of shared management in selected river basins and provide examples of best practices from Nordic Countries.
